Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 42_01122019

Greetings my friends!!! Hope you all had a spectacular Holiday Season!!! Lots going on so let’s dive right in!!!

New Year’s Eve I released the latest installment of the Kate Gardener Mysteries, NIGHT MOVES. It’s the sixth book in the series… it’s loaded with suspense and humor and everything you love about KGM books, so I hope you check it out…

In other KGM book news, all six books in the series are now available in Large Print paperback editions on Amazon.

Something else rather exciting happened as the New year dawned… I’ve now officially opened my own little store… GM Books Goods. Right now I’m offering pre-made covers; graphics, such as teasers, banners, Facebook and Twitter covers, etc.; as well as formatting for e-books and paperbacks, and proofreading. Custom covers will be coming soon, too! You can check out the page on Facebook:

Live Writes @ the Bistro is still going strong. We had our most recent write this past Wednesday, and during the coming year we’re going to be switching things up a bit. Genre Roulette will always be a part of every write, but we’re going to be throwing some other cool things in, such as theme nights and new styles of writing. You won’t want to miss it, so keep your eyes on my author page and on Weekly Update for the latest.

Looking forward to a new year of writing… I’m stepping up my business game this year, attacking marketing full throttle and hoping for some very positive movement on that end. I love writing… it’s a joy… but it’s also my job… I take it, and everything around it, seriously, and I’m going to be doing that more-so this year than ever before. On the creative side, I can give you a peek at what will be coming this year:

Kate Gardener Mysteries… 3, possibly 4, new mysteries by year’s end… The next two books will be furthering series storylines, wrapping up some and beginning others, so it’s a great time to catch up and get in on these sexy, sassy mysteries.

The Sleeping Detective… I’m finally going to get cracking on adapting this 50s noir story. I started this story as a screenplay and I have a lot outlined and noted down… I’m looking forward to the research and writing… Cover’s already down and it is COOL!!! The story is like LA Confidential meet The Thin Man, with a cool character twist that will lead to some drama and some humor. You’ll like it *winks*

Untitled series… Okay, it isn’t really untitled, I’m just not ready to announce it yet because the series title will be a big part of the series marketing, but I can tell you a little bit… It’s going to be (as of now) a 10 “book” series, with each being about 12k words in length… really more short stories that connect to each other… it’s going to be historical fantasy/ alternate history, with real-life people from the time frame and incidents involved interacting with original characters… throw in a big dose of mythology, period crimes, and landmark historical events spanning two decades… and you have a sneak peek. The plan is to release the stories, one a week, as e-books, then ultimately publish a paperback omnibus of all 10 stories together next fall. It’s going to be MEGA!!!

In addition, I have a couple of stories out there for anthologies, including a Kate Gardener Mystery bonus story that will be appearing in a Christmas cozy anthology and a historical werewolf romance in another anthology to be announced.

That about does it for Weekly Update this week… Tune in next week for more news and creative developments, and more!!! Until then, Peace, Love & Muchness to you all!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 41_12232018

It’s Christmas Eve eve!!! Happy Holidays my friends!!! Hope you are having a wonderful one.

This past week has been one of off-line activities… shopping, baking, gift wrapping, and a visit with Santa himself… Still a few things left to do, but I look forward to sitting down comfortably tomorrow night, enjoying the atmosphere of the Eve, and thinking about the New Year to come very soon. Last night, I spent some time sketching out this coming year’s writing schedule, as well as other activities I’m going to be diving into… it’s going to be a busy one, yielding much creativity and success, I hope… I’ll give you all a sneak peek at that next week.

Also coming next week (barring any unforeseen disasters) will be the release of Kate Gardener Mysteries #6, NIGHT MOVES. I chose not to do the pre-order this time around, so it will be dropping on December 31st. I’ll also have the first four mysteries available in Large Print paperback editions… Three are already available, and four is in review at the moment, so should be coming soon.

Until next week, my friends, I wish you a Holiday Season filled with cheer and may you all have a wonderful Christmas filled with Peace, Love & Muchness galore!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update- Volume 40_12162018

Welcome back to Weekly Update!!!

So it’s been a busy week, though pretty much all of it was behind the scenes. I’ve been busily going through, line-by-line, editing NIGHT MOVES… A few chapters left to go, but I’m on schedule for releasing it by the end of the month. I’m not doing a pre-order this time around because it would put undue pressure on me to wrap it up and get it loaded, and I don’t want to do a sloppy job on it. On the other hand, I do not want to push it into next month if I don’t absolutely have to. So… no pre-order (I can hear my publicist saying tsk tsk tsk in the background…)

I did release the cover this past Thursday, and it’s been here and there since. I’ll be pushing it more this week, and please feel free to share it everywhere you can… Every little bit helps me no end.

I also finished sketching the outline for the next book this week. I have about a third of it already written, but I need to get down the gist of it and see where I’ll be going when I turn my attention to it after the holidays. I’m also looking at starting in on my short story serial that I was planning to do in November, but just wasn’t ready for. Now, after a bit of reorganization, I have a good idea of what I’m doing in the first six and I’m hoping I can start working on them after the holidays, too. These will be very cool… kind of historical fantasy, kind of steampunk, kind of mystery/ suspense… and (I think) very unique.

I’ve been thinking about future writing and my goals for the coming year, as well as some other ventures that I’m going to be exploring… I’ll be telling you more about those very soon… But for now I must get back to editing and get this book ready for you all. Have a great week to come and I’ll see you back here next week for another edition of Weekly Update… Peace, Love & Muchness to all!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 39_12092018

Hello all!!! Welcome back to Weekly Update… Let’s dive in!!!

So I’ve been taking a little break from writing since finishing NaNo… Made some new graphics for the Kate Gardener books that are out, which you may have seen around my Facebook pages and groups. I’m going to be diving back in soon, though… First on the docket is getting NIGHT MOVES edited and ready for publication. I had wanted to get it out this month, but so as not to rush and mess it up I’m going to leave the whole publishing date open for the time being. It WILL be coming soon, so keep your eyes open. I’m also getting ready to finish outlining book 7 so I can dive back into that one. Outside the mysteries, I’ll be puttering with other stories from varied genres. In fact, I found an entire outline for a story last night… it’s not my usual bag, so to speak, but I can’t pass up taking a close look at a full outline, now can I? LOL

In other news, I’m thinking on ideas of stuff to do in the Writers’ Bistro. It’s been a while since I ran a weekly write-up there, but I haven’t hit on something quite yet. I’m always open to ideas, too, so if you have one, send it my way.

Of course, the big shared news this week regarded Facebook’s new rules about images and language and such. For my part, I’m not worried about it and won’t be running to another platform anytime soon… You’re stuck with me LOL!!! In all seriousness, though, when “bans” and “guidelines” appear, it should really be a moment to take a close look at your marketing approach. I always ask myself… “Could I say this or show this to a mixed audience in a Barnes & Noble?” If the answer is ever “no”, then it’s time to re-evaluate your approach a bit. Because eventually, no matter what they say otherwise, social media platforms are going to find ways to regulate their content, for safety if nothing else. You have to be prepared to adapt, as any good business should. Just my opinion, though.

Nothing exciting happening in the coming week for me, other than editing, outlining, playing with some cool imagery, perhaps… and maybe even a little baking, we’ll see. So, until next week, I shall leave you and say Peace, Love, & Muchness to you all!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 38_12022018

Ahoy, Muchlanders!!! Hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend!!! It’s a short update this week, so let’s jump right in…

Friday finished up the month of super-writing known as NaNoWriMo… I made it to 50k (barely Lol) and NIGHT MOVES, Kate Gardener Mystery #6, is complete. Now I’m in the process of finalizing updates to the cover, and then it will be time to edit the draft and get the blurb written. Still not setting a release date for sure, but it will likely be by the end of the month or the very beginning of January. Stay tuned!!!

This coming Wednesday Live Writes at the Bistro is back!!! We have a great line-up of writers, all ready to get it their all and spin brilliant tales for you, so I hope you’ll mark your calendars and join us starting at 8PM EST.

Oh, and before I forget… check out the posts in the group… I’ve been nominated for a couple of awards and would love the votes! The categories are there, so just follow the link to the event and look for me. I know there are a ton of Female Authors nominated so you might not be able to find me, but the Mystery Titles is still a small one. I appreciate all the votes you can muster… I’d love Razor’s Edge to get a nod!

Yep, short one LOL Alright, everyone, I’m off to putter on the cover and make some new teasers. Until next week, wishing you all Peace, Love & Muchness galore!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 37_11182018

Greetings Muchlanders!!! Weekly Update, back again!!!

So I’m frantically writing away on my NaNo projects… Okay, not frantically, but I’m getting them done and I’m (so far) ahead of schedule. My goal is set a bit higher than the standard… 60k words… and I’m past 37k now, so well one my way to completion. Lots, lots, lots coming up this week, though, so I’m going to be satisfied if I hit the 45k mark by the end of the week.

Stuff going on… of course, Thanksgiving is Thursday here in the U.S., and there’s a couple of days of school before vacation starts. Planning to get some cleaning done this week in edition to getting some blurbs written up. I’ve also just subscribed to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, which means I’ll be whipping up some new goodies this week just in time for the holiday season. Look for some momentous stuff to come over the next month or so.

Kate Gardener Mystery #6 is nearing completion… I haven’t set a date yet for the release, but it will be in December. If I had to venture, probably after Christmas. I’d like to get it out before, but I’d rather release early than late, and, well, it’s not done yet LOL. Hopefully I will be releasing the cover and have a pre-order for you all soon… as soon as I have a blurb… People who have stuff done 6 weeks in advance amaze me LOL

Okay, so I’m diving back into work now. If you haven’t already joined Gaby’s Books & Muchness, or liked my author page, don’t wait!!! Lots of new stuff coming, and you have to be there to be in the know!!! Until next week, Muchlanders… I have been, and always shall be, your Gaby *winks*… Peace, Love, & Muchness to all!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 36_11112018

Hello everyone!!! Welcome back to Weekly Update!!!

So last week I totally spaced writing an installment… In my defense, I’ve been immersed in NaNoWriMo goals while simultaneously working through severe neck pain, headaches, and recovering from a month of stress and anxiety completing some other projects. But here I am back again… feeling much better and having completed a third of my 60k-word goal already.

Part of this week I was fighting with the cover for the next book… I love it, but I was trying to make it more… and then I realized it doesn’t need to be more because it’s enough (Kind of an allegory for us all in some ways, huh?). There is a little bit of anxiety lurking in my mind, because it’s a cover that is nothing like anything I’ve put out before, but I think more dangerous covers get through unscathed… Its very noir, too, which is an element of my work that I’m trying to emphasize. Hopefully, when I wrap up the story I’ll get to show it to you here in the group… Darn it, I’ll need to write a blurb first… Okay, after that then Lol

So, the writing is coming along… #6 is nearly finished, and as always happens when I write I’m discovering new things along the way. I always intended for there to be threads that run through the Kate Gardener Mysteries… After all, the books are based on a television show, and the best dramas always have those recurring characters and plot arcs and such. I’m loving how it’s coming together, though… In this one, and #7, a lot of seeds are beginning to sprout. I’m so happy, too, that so many people are discovering Kate now and loving her, and the series, so much. I’ve worked on this world for nearly a decade, and to find it being appreciated and enjoyed and anticipated is, simply put, the best feeling in the world.

Other than the writing and the trying to feel better, I haven’t been up to much this past couple of weeks… I know, I’m boring *winks* One thing that has happened over the past month or so is that I’ve fallen off the wagon doing my weekly SLP Partners group spot on Thursdays. I’m brainstorming some ideas of what to do and I’m planning to back in the mix soon. I’m also going to get back into Shadow League as well, so you’ll have a couple of chances to hang with me every week. I’m also going to be improving activity in the group… I’m not the greatest at the games and such, but I’m thinking about what to do in here that can make it a cool place to hang and stay busy in, so stay tuned!

And with that I must be off to lay down a few more words for the day. Until next week, Peace, Love & Muchness to you all!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update- Volume 35_10282018

Greetings and salutations to all!!! Welcome back to Weekly Update!!!

So BIG NEWS first… After careful reflection and thought, I have decided not to hold a Bistro Live Write in November. I made this decision for one major reason: NaNoWriMo. Firstly, I’m going to be doing it, and I have quite a goal of words and content set to complete, and I really need to focus every spare moment I have on reaching my goals. I’m set to finish Kate Gardener Mysteries #6 (including getting blurb and other goodies ready for promotion), plus I aim to write four short stories in an historical fantasy serial I’m developing… and (very) possibly a KGM Christmas short. I also have another venture, which I’ll fill everyone in on as it develops, and I want to be able to get that ball rolling, too. So, yeah, way busy, and it takes time to set up an event, book authors, create graphics, and promote. And that’s another reason I’m not going to have one this coming month… Because of NaNo, and the approaching Thanksgiving holiday here in the US, it can be really difficult to book authors and pull an audience. Even book releases can be difficult to, well, sell, during the month. So, after running it by a couple of people, I’ve decided not to do it. Bistro Live Writes will be back in December for some holiday fun!

As I said, loads of writing going on… I’m currently finishing up an historical fantasy story that is top secret, hush-hush, say no more *winks*, and hope to meet the deadline I set for myself of October 30th. I only have a wee bit to write, so that goal is in the bag. Then it’s on to the Siege of November, aka NaNo, and the wealth of words required every day… Minimum 2166/ day… probably doesn’t seem like a lot for most writers out there, but for me, to consistently hit that and stay on schedule, will be a challenge… But it’s one I’m ready to meet and conquer!!! So, other than a couple of events I’ve already committed to, and my daily posts and shares, I’ll probably be quite scarce here.

Events this week…

I’ll be swinging by S. Meachen’s THE WARD reader group on Wednesday, Halloween Night, for an hour TO at 7PM EST.

October 29th-October 31st

The ENTIRE Bloodline Series will be FREE on Amazon… Yep, that’s right, FREE. So go grab copies your missing, or the whole thing if you haven’t yet. The whole series is also available through Kindle Unlimited, so if you use it please check it out.

I had the honor of being part of a spectacular anthology, and it just dropped on Friday… Words to Dream By is an adult bedtime story anthology featuring some of the top indie writers in the community. 18 different genres, and all the stories are small enough to read in one sitting, or just before bed, or while relaxing in the bath… Whatever you like!!! It’s available on Amazon and all major book platforms, so check it out and get your copy today.

Aaaaaaand, that’s all folks!!! See you back here next week for another edition of Weekly Update… Hopefully I’ll have some words to share with you as I begin the NaNo journey. Until then, Peace, Love & Muchness to all!!!

So last Sunday I released IVAN, a prequel to the Bloodline Series… It’s only $0.99 on Amazon, and is available in Kindle Unlimited as well, so please check it out.

I’ve been super busy the last two weeks, between working on stories I need to finish up and finishing up formatting on a couple of books. One of those books is a spectacular story anthology, WORDS TO DREAM BY… This book is an eclectic mix of story genres and styles by some of the top indie writers in the community. The book is available for pre-order right now for only $3.99, and it’s getting released this Friday, October 26th, so pick up your copy right now!!!

This Thursday, I’ll be Live Writing once again with the fabulous Leah Negron. We produced a great, creepy story this past Thursday, and I believe we’re writing horror in the next, so who know what we’ll come up with. Keep your eyes peeled for the links and event info!!!

Next month is NaNoWriMo, and I’ll be at it again… my best, Jade, and I have challenged each other… 65k words… I think it was 65k… Anyway, it’s a lot, so cheer us on!!! I hope to have FOUR stories done by the end of the month, each 12k-15k, plus wrapping up another story… Whew!!! It’s going to be intense!!!

Also, I’m still figuring out some of the particulars, but I’m going to be offering a few services for writers, including formatting and proofreading, graphics and covers, and blurb consultation/ polishing… Stay tuned!!!

Okay, words to right and things to do… Busy, busy!!! I’ll be back again next week for more weekly update… Until then, Peace, Love & Muchness to you all!!!

Gaby’s Books & Muchness – Weekly Update – Volume 33_10072018

Well, hello everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since we last chilled here in Weekly Update. Last week, I took to the live feed and chatted in an impromptu sort of way, but this week my fingers are a-typing once more.

Lots happening over the past week or so. Of course, last Sunday was release day for RAZOR’S EDGE. I want to give a special shout out to my super sharers over the past couple of weeks, Marcy and Mitzi… You guys have been absolutely amazing with your encouragement and support, posting and sharing all over the place… I can’t thank you enough, but THANK YOU!!!!

Within the next week or so I’ll be jumping back into Kate’s world to finish the 6th book, NIGHT MOVES. I’m about halfway through the book right now, and haven’t looked at it for a few weeks… Sometimes you just need to clear your head, and I think I have. I’ve also found something rather remarkable and invaluable on an old flash drive. Back when KGM was a spec TV series called “Yard Work”, I had five seasons of episodes sketched out. Well, I thought those bits of information and episode goodness were lost forever, until I checked over these old flash drives and found them. Next problem was I couldn’t open them… they were in WPS (Yeah, they are THAT old LOL)… But I was pointed towards a file conversion site that really did convert it to Word for free, and so now I have my goodies!!! You know, I’ve been so busy with all this other stuff I haven’t even looked through them yet… Must do that tonight.

Anywho… A couple of cool things happening this week. As you’ll see on my Author Page, I’m participating in the Tricks or Treats hop this week. I have a post pinned at the top of my page, and there are scads of brilliant things being given away, including a signed PB copy of THE COLD ONES. There’s also a link to a master list of participants, so make sure you check everyone out and join in.

Also this coming Saturday I’ll be Live Writing with Elias Raven in Savannah Morgan’s fabulous Saviland… It’s worth noting that Saviland and Muchland are neighboring counties in the Land of Coolness… *winks* It will be a night of mischief and mayhem and spookiness, I’m sure.

Saturday is also release day for my little tale from the Bloodline Series, IVAN. This story originally appeared in the Creature Feature anthology, but now it’s out there on its own and only available through Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. You can pre-order it now as well for 99 cents.

I will be ordering paperbacks soon. If you’re interested in copies of any of my books, let me know here. The Bloodline Series is $15 a piece; Kate Gardener Mysteries are $10 a piece; and THE COLD ONES is $12. I do offer discounts for multiple books, too.

Let’s see, what else… Hmmm… I think that’s it for this week. Alright, Muchlanders, I will bid you a fond goodnight… Be kind, stay gold, and Peace, Love & Muchness to all!!! See ya next week!!!
